Car Insurance Annapolis, MD
If you’re one of the more than 4 million licensed drivers in Maryland, you know the daily hazards you face driving in a relatively small geographic area with many roads and vehicles. If you have an accident or sustain vehicle damage, you need car insurance that protects you. However, knowing if you have the required protection from your automobile insurance can be challenging to understand. Our Deale & Associates insurance agents can discuss your coverage options with you to ensure you are appropriately protected.
What Auto Insurance Should I Have?
Auto insurance is designed to protect you against property, liability and medical costs if you have an accident or sustain other damage to your vehicle.
-
Liability coverage pays for your legal responsibility to others for bodily injury or property damage.
-
Medical coverage pays to treat injuries, rehabilitation and sometimes lost wages and funeral expenses.
You can select six types of coverage for your auto insurance policy, which are summarized below. Our agents can help you make your selection, following the requirements of Maryland.
Comprehensive and Collision Coverage
Collision: Covers damage to your car when your car hits, or is hit by, another vehicle or other object.
Comprehensive: Covers your vehicle, and sometimes other vehicles you may be driving, for losses resulting from incidents other than collision.
Types of Liability Coverage
Bodily injury liability: This covers injuries that you, the designated driver or policyholder, cause to someone else. It doesn’t cover the cost of damage to your vehicle, or to you or other people on your policy.
Medical payments or personal injury protection: This no-fault coverage provides medical expenses to you and your passengers injured in an accident.
Property damage liability: Covers you or someone driving your car with permission if the car damages someone’s property. It also helps you with legal defense if a lawsuit is filed against you.
Uninsured and underinsured motorist coverage: This coverage reimburses you if you are hit by an uninsured or hit-and-run driver, or when an at-fault driver has insufficient insurance to pay for your total loss.
